You Have An Appointment

Suppose you receive a note that read: YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT: You squint to see if your name is on it. Sure enough it's written there in plain sight. As you look a bit further it becomes painfully apparent that something is missing! In the blank marked time, there is nothing, in the place where the date should be, there is only a bold black line on yellow paper. Near the bottom of the note on the left side appears two empty squares inviting a check mark. Printed beside one is the single word HEAVEN, beside the other is a very conspicuous, HELL.

This isn't something that we want to think about, but we all get such an appointment slip when we're born…in a sense, at least, The man who purportedly penned more proverbs than anyone in history, King Solomon, (See I Kings 4:29,34) came to the conclusion that we've all parroted on occasion, "There is a time and a season for everything." (see Ecclesiates 3:1,8). He observes in verse 2 at the very beginning of his list for which there is "a season for every purpose under the heaven", that there was a time to be born and a time to die.

I look around at the body of Believers and there are two things for which believers frequently requests prayer. First is, "Who needs prayer for physical problems?" More and more these problems are life threatening? I'm not sure anyone knows exactly why so many good folks are so sick. Some holler, "It's a trial of your faith, Brother!" Of a truth, when you are facing death, your faith in whatever one proclaims to have faith in will certainly be tried. Imagine…you're alive and energetic, you go in for your regular yearly check up. A few days later the doctor calls you in and explains that the lab work came back with a high lab number indicating the possibility of cancer. He wants you to come in for further tests…His suspicious are confirmed …a thousand scenarios rage through your thoughts. Desperately you try to make sense of this surreal haze. Reality sets in as quickly as it had raced away…You know how the options as well as the odds for survival stack up. What will you do?

Two dear brothers in Christ are in the exact place I've just described. They've both served the Lord faithfully for years and continue to do so. Both have hundreds of Christians praying for their recovery, and they will live. If we live unto the Lord, whether we live or die, WE ARE THE LORD'S."

What is your testimony? What will you say if you're faced with death? Will it be I Corn. 15:55, "Oh death where is your sting? Oh grave, where is thy victory?" In God's Holy Word, it is written: Hebrews 9:27, "And it is APPOINTED ONCE TO DIE, but after this the judgment." Don't despair, The Great I AM fills out the appointment slips. You may as well stop worrying cause HE WRITES IN THE TIME AND DATE and you're not leaving just yet! If you don’t know my Jesus, please accept His salvation right now. He also checks the boxes.
