Continual Praise

Continual Praise
by Joanie Buchanan

"I WILL BLESS THE LORD AT ALL TIMES"
Psalm 34:1-22

Most of the Psalms are prayers, and most of the prayers include praise to God.

Praise expresses admiration, appreciation, and thanks. Praise in the book of Psalms is often directed to God, and just as often the praise is shared with others.

In Psalm 9:1-10. Here we find a good definition of Praise: I must praise Him with my whole heart. I will tell of His marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in You. He is the one that makes the heart glad. To look anywhere else will fail. I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. His name is the name above all name."

That does not leave any room for human exaltation.  When my enemies turn back, They will fall and perish at Your presence. He is the one that fights our battles and He alone is able to stop the enemy of our soul. They will fall and perish at Your presence. For you have maintained my right and my cause. You sat on the throne judging in righteousness. You have rebuked the nations, You have destroyed the wicked; You have blotted out their name forever and ever.

We are told the Lord will be a refuge for the oppressed. A refuge in the times of trouble.  And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.

Psalm 9 along with so many verses and chapter is good to read each day. Here are some good verses to start with:

Begin any task with Praise. ------------------1Chr.15:16-25

It should be a continuous part of our life---------1Chr.16:4

We should begin our worship with-----------2Chr. 5:13

What we can Praise God for------------------ Ps.103:1

How we should Praise God----------------------Ps.148:5

Seeking God's praise not people's------------Mt. 3:4

Praising God despite circumstances---------Acts 16:22-25

What is a sacrifice of Praise---------------------Heb. 13:15-16

You cause others to Praise---------------------1Peter 2:12

There are times when a praise is a sacrifice. Our flesh will cry, "I do not want to praise God." Satan will try to give us every excuse to not praise God.

What if Paul and Silas had not praised God at the midnight hour?  They would not have been set free from their shackles. They started singing and the place started shacking. There was a whole lot of shacking going on but it was from the Rock of Ages, (The Lord God Himself).  When we praise shackles start falling.  I get excited just thinking about it.

"But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them; and suddenly there came a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison house were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's chains were unfastened."  Act 16:25-26

In 2Chr. 20:1- Jehoshaphat cried to God when the enemy was coming to destroy them; in verse 22 it reads, "And when they began singing, and praising the Lord. He set ambushes. And they were all routed..

The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God. Praise God! Victory is mine, victory is mine. Victory today is mine. We have access to the unlimited resources of God, through the mighty power of the Blood of the Lamb. "We over come through the Blood of the Lamb the word of our testimony and love not our life even until death."

"Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come." Rev. 4:8b

"Worthy art Thou, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for thou didst create all things, and because of Thy will they existed, and were created"
