About the Author of Life Lines
Life Lines
author and retired journalist, Leslie A Turvey, uses his skills to write in the service of
God.
Leslie was active in the Baptist church for thirty years, but
during his teens began questioning the teachings of his church. In mid-life God began
revealing the answers from the bible. "They were astonishing!" Leslie recalls.
As a result Leslie and his wife, Betty, left the Baptist church
to keep the Sabbath, the holy days, and the dietary laws catalogued in the old testament.
After many years in large organizations, God decided their
talents would be better used in a "little flock," to quote the words of Jesus.
The Turveys now serve in the Christian Family Church of God, in Burlington, Ontario,
Canada.
Most Life Lines readers agree with the author, some disagree, but
few ignore what he has to say. Each message is about life, and generally includes a moral
or a mini-sermon. Most have a touch of humor in them, and some open the way to
controversy.
Leslie takes the view of John Homer Miller, who said, "What
is a sermon for but to do two things: first, it should comfort the afflicted, and second,
it should afflict the comfortable."
The use of Life Lines is offered for sermons, for church
bulletins, and such. Leslie does request if they're published in printed form, that a
credit line be included. |
